Bell Of Witch English translation/hack

"Bell Of Witch" is a hack/translation of the 1995 Slovak ZX Spectrum text-only adventure, by programmer Ayland (Maroš Dzoba): Bell Of Witch original Slovak version.

You are a perpetually underpaid detective, on a hazardous case. Prove you are more than a lousy detective!

Danger lurks, and your life is at stake! Proceed with caution and keep in mind that prematurely leaving without solving the case may lead to dire consequences. There are four ways to lose and only one way to finish the game successfully.

You can use the following commands (one letter or whole words) to navigate and interact with your surroundings.

Navigation commands:

• N/NORTH
• E/EAST
• S/SOUTH
• W/WEST

Interaction commands:

• T/TAKE
• D/DISCARD
• U/USE

Informational commands:

• L/LOOK
• I/INVENTORY
• H/HELP
• A/ABOUT

Special commands:

• X/EXIT

General instructions:

• You can move only in allowed directions - not through walls.
• Interact with items by entering the whole word (or words), or their first two letters.
• You can take only an item you see, meaning you have already explored the surroundings and noticed the specific item.
• You can collect any number of items; discarding is unnecessary.
• Note that not everything is useful, interactive, or purposeful.

What is done in the hack:

• Everything has been translated to English.
• The game's bugs have been fixed.
• Text has been expanded and new phrases have been added.
• "About" screen has been added.
• Command synonyms have been added.

• Google Translate, for translation.
• HxD hex editor, for text and code editing.
• BasinC, for code editing.
• Spectrum SCR Editor, for the loading screen editing.
• ZX-Paintbrush, also for the loading screen editing.
• UpdateTapChecksums, for updating the checksum bytes.
